Validate at the edge
Pydantic models parse the body. A missing field fails there. The domain function receives a value it can trust.

Move the batch off the click
A report, an import, or a model call runs in a worker. The request stores the job and returns. The person can leave the page.

Test against a real database
Integration tests start the database they claim to use. A mock that returns the happy row does not catch the query the worker will run.
